Fort Collins voters this fall will be asked whether they want to increase city sales and use taxes by 8.5 cents on each $10 purchase, and dedicate the money toward public safety, road and park improvements and maintenance.
The plan calls for increasing the existing sales and use tax by 0.85 percent, raising almost $19 million in its first full year.
The tax increase would cost an average household about $112 extra annually, officials said, and would sunset in 10 years.
The Fort Collins City Council on Tuesday night approved sending the plan to voters on a 4-2 vote.
